We are so proud to be a part of such a wonderful CDH center!  Duke launched their new CDH website  yesterday!  We played a huge part in the design of this website and are extremely honored to have been asked to be a part of something so special!  Kudos to all of us at The Parker Reese Foundation for being what we are today!  We have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and are truly making a difference in the CDH community!! 

Alannah Gracyn-Reese Cain  was born Tuesday, November 3rd @ 6:58 p.m. weighing 5 pounds and 12 ounces and 19 inches long. Mom, Lisa, said she’s was doing very well.  She had her repair surgery yesterday and are weaning her off of meds now. They are going to try and remove her off of the vent on Monday!  All was up but the liver and about an inch of colon. Her left lung was severely compromised but the right is full & strong. 

Lisa said that she added Reese to her name in honor of her grandmother Ree and Parker!  What a tribute to Parker!!!  We are so happy to report that Alannah is holding her own.  We’ll keep you updated on her condition.  So far the family has no blog or carepage.

Baby Andrew lost his fight with CDH today.  Please keep Becky and Gene in your thoughts and prayers.  I am truly at a loss for words tonight.

Penny Noell is an amazing photographer in the Triangle who offers “Birth Story” photography which documents the entire labor and delivery process and is absolutely stunning!  Penny has offered her services free of charge to families staying at Parker’s House!  This will mean so much to these families as some of them may not go home with their children and for many of us our pictures are all we have left.  We are extremely proud to announce our partnership with Penny Noell Photography and to be able to offer this service to families calling Parker’s House “home”.

Emery’s parents set up a Carepage for Emery for those of you who would like to follow her story.  Go to Carepages and type in her carepage name EmeryElizabethEllis for updates on her condition.  Please keep the Ellis family in your thoughts and prayers.

It’s  a very simple contest.  All you do is enter your name and email address one time a day and Qdoba will donate $1 to Starlight Children’s Foundation.  If we win Duke University will receive a donation from Qdoba of $5,000 and a Starlight Children’s Foundation Fun Center mobile entertainment unit to Duke University Medical Center in The Parker Reese Foundation’s name.  

Voting begins at 12:01 a.m. Mountain Time (“MT”) on October 6, 2009 and ends at 11:59 p.m. MT on November 1, 2009. During the week of November 2, 2009, the five (5) finalists from the Voting Period will be announced. In the second part of the Campaign, the judging panel will judge the five (5) finalists and select one (1) winner, who will be announced during the week of November 16, 2009.

We received our tote bags today in the mail and we couldn’t be more impressed with the quality!  We decided months ago that we needed to start doing tote bags for the families staying at Parker’s House and eventually got around to it.  We’ve been super busy at PRF with planning fundraisers, meetings with hospitals, getting new families moved into Parker’s House and just the day-to-day business of running a nonprofit. 

We are excited about being to offer these to the families that call Parker’s House home as we know the items we provide inside will benefit them during their CDH journey.  We decided to limit the bags to Parker’s House families because Breath of Hope and Global CDH  offer them to all CDH families but if you know of a family in need of one please send us an email at info@theparkerreesefoundation.com.
