Another Angel.

Posted by Jessica Singletary on May 27, 2009

Today, Clarissa Ann Jones, passed away at Duke University Medical Center in her mommy’s arms and with daddy by her side.  She was born last night via c-section.  This is the family that is currently occupying Parker’s House.  I cannot even begin to tell you how saddened we were to hear this news this evening.  Our hearts ache at the loss of yet another CDH baby.  Please pray for this family as they learn to put their family back together and heal what seems like a wound forever open.

I will update with funeral arrangements as soon as I know them.

Lots Going On At The PRF….

Posted by Jessica Singletary on May 27, 2009

We have so much going on these days that I thought I’d take some time to update the blog about our happenings.  We have been revamping the foundation is many ways as we learned from our first year of operation on just exactly how to be successful.  It starts with an active board and so we have 5 new board of directors that we are ecstaticabout.   Marion Acord, Ashley Standiffer, Rob McGuire, Kellie Myers and Carolyn Ashworth have joined our team and we couldn’t be happier.   Being a board member requires so much and we are so honored that these individuals volunteered to help the PRF in the quest to support CDH families.

We have tons of fundraisers planned to help raise awareness and to help raise funds to support research and CDH families that stay at Parker’s House.

Photo Party – July – Atlanta, GA

Round for Hope – Golf Tournament – October – San Antonio, TX

CDH Uncorked – Wine Tasting Dinner & Silent Auction – November – Atlanta, GA

Addison’ Angel 5k Run/Walk – March – Atlanta, GA

Heels for Hope – March

Hoops for Hope – April – Bladenboro, NC

Battle of the Bats – May – Bladenboro, NC

Black Tie & Boots Ball – September 2011 – Chapel Hill, NC

Blue Jean Ball – September 2012 – Atlanta, GA

These are just a few events that we’ll be hosting at PRF.  We are so excited about each of them and are working behind the scenes to make sure they are successful.  If any of you are interested in volunteering please email us at info@theparkerreesefoundation.com

We are hosting our 6th family now who are expecting a little girl in less than three weeks.  They will deliver at Duke who has become one of the top medical centers for treatment of CDH babies on the East Coast.  We continue to help Duke help CDH families and have been asked to come back for a second meeting.  We are also assisting in their CDH genetics study program and I’ll provide more information on that once I meet with Duke regarding it.

The deadline to order shirts is May 31st.  If you’d like an order form please email us and we’ll get one to you promptly.  We are trying to meet our goal of 365 shirts to cover one year at Parker’s House.  Please help us meet our goal!   This fundraiser has been so successful and we cannot wait for everyone to sport their shirts to help raise awareness of this horrible birth defect.

That’s what’s going on at PRF.  We are always spreading awareness and doing our best to support families with CDH.  What we do is very rewarding and healing for all of us involved.  Thank you for always supporting what we do and for helping us take CDH on one baby at a time.

Katherine Elizabeth Cole

Posted by Jessica Singletary on May 19, 2009

Better known as Katie has her eyes set on home.  This precious little girl, a first at Parker’s House, may be going home with mom and dad tomorrow.  Katie’s family stayed at Parker’s House for 6 weeks and moved out on Sunday.  They have been staying in the TCN with Katie preparing to go home this week.  Upon many requests the family started a blog a few days ago.  Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.  They are an amazing family and we are so blessed that God brought them into our lives.
